The boy of North African immigrants, Bouchikhi was 12 years honest-to-god when he met the children of influential Gypsy vocalist, Jose Reyes. Spending to the highest degree of his time at Reyes's camping area, he taught himself to play guitar at the eld of 17. He ingrained himself into the Reyes criminal offence syndicate level further subsequently marrying Reyes's girl, Marthe. Before Reyes's death, he named Bouchikhi as his replacement as leader of the family's stripe. Originally named Los Reyes, the grouping performed every summer on the beaches of Saint Tropez. Renamed the Gipsy Kings in 1983, they continued to exercise up a very fast fan base. Commercial success, however, continued to be allusive. In 1986, the Reyes brothers temporarily left wing wing music. Biuchikhi remained the only banding member to live in a Gypsy coaster wagon train, under the Arles Bridge. Returning to medicine in 1989, Bouchikhi and the Gypsy King successfully reached out to the outside market, releasing eight top-selling albums between 1988 and 1991. Leaving the Gipsy Kings in 1991, Bouchikhi formed Chico And The Gypsies with musicians from Arles and Montpelier. He continues to attend as a special emissary for pink of my John for UNESCO.
